iWhere do you turn when you have a health concern, but don't know where to start? If you're not sure whether to see your regular doctor or a specialist, an internal medicine physician may be an excellent choice.
An internal medicine doctor—or internist—is a personal physician who provides long-term, comprehensive care in outpatient or inpatient settings. They help manage common and complex illnesses in adults and the elderly.
Internists are trained in the essentials of primary care internal medicine, which includes disease prevention, wellness, substance abuse, mental health, and common problems of the eyes, ears, skin, nervous system, and reproductive organs.
Internists also diagnose cancer, infections, and diseases affecting the heart, blood, kidneys, joints, and the respiratory and vascular systems. Many have special interests or certifications in sub-specialties including:
Trios has several highly experienced, board certified internal medicine physicians on staff, many with additional specialties. They provide compassionate primary and complex care to patients on an outpatient basis, as well as inpatient care to those who become hospitalized. Trios internists are also regularly on call to help hospital patients who don't have a primary care provider.
Your Trios internist may serve as your primary care physician and refer you to a specialist when needed.
Trios Residency Clinic - Internal Medicine, Trios Care Center at South Ridge - 4th Floor, Trios Care Center at Chavallo Complex and Trios Care Center at Vista Field are departments of Trios Health. When you see a physician or receive services in a provider-based clinic, you are technically being treated in an outpatient department of the hospital rather than the physician’s office. Please refer to “Understanding your Healthcare Costs” to learn how your bill may be affected when seen by a provider in a provider-based clinic.
