Trios Health Partnering with American Red Cross to Host Blood Drive
February 13, 2025

Trios Health will host a blood drive with the American Red Cross on Thursday, March 6, from 9 a.m.- 2:00 p.m. at the Trios Care Center at Southridge, in the lower-level conference room, 3730 Plaza Way, Kennewick, WA 99338. Community members are invited to join Trios staff in rolling up their sleeves and giving this life saving donation.
“Across our nation, we are currently facing a severe blood shortage and are in need of donations from all blood types,” said Jean Lewis, Trios Health Laboratory Director. “We are committed to strengthening our community and helping meet hospital and patient needs through blood donations. This blood drive is our way of giving staff, colleagues, and neighbors an opportunity to help save lives.”
Blood is a perishable product that can only come from volunteer blood donors. With someone in the U.S. needing blood every two seconds, blood products must be constantly replenished, according to the Red Cross.
“We urge community members to donate blood and help ensure that patients in local hospitals have a supply of blood ready and waiting before an emergency occurs. There’s no better feeling than knowing that your blood donation may give someone a second chance at life.”
According to the Red Cross, donors with all blood types are needed, especially those with types O negative, A negative and B negative.
Appointments are needed to participate in the Blood Drive. For more information and to make an appointment, go to: https://www.redcrossblood.org/give.html/donation-time?zipSponsor=Trios
If you are donating, please bring your drivers’ license and if you can, complete the RapidPass the morning of the Blood Drive (must be done on the same day you are donating). RapidPass takes only a few minutes to fill it out, so if you can get it completed before your appointment then you will get through the process faster

The American Red Cross is using new health screening devices to improve the blood donation experience. Red Cross is transitioning to a new device that eliminates the fingerstick and instead utilizes a ring-shaped sensor that is fitted onto an individual’s finger to measure their hemoglobin levels. These new devices will not only improve the donation experience for many of our donors but also help the Red Cross reduce its environmental impact by decreasing the use of disposable medical supplies. The American Red Cross will also begin using automated devices to measure individuals’ temperature, blood pressure, and pulse rate replacing more manual devices. Here is a short video going over these changes: https://vimeo.com/1009868221
WARM HANDS will be critical when testing hemoglobin levels with the new sensor.
